Notts: Deputy Commissioner welcomes new police cadets

Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Notts Chris Cutland has formally welcomed the arrival of 72 new police cadets to help deliver crime reduction in the county.

The new recruits, all aged 16, were sworn into their roles in a ceremony at County Hall.

Deputy Commissioner Cutland attended the event to welcome the cadets and express her gratitude at the personal commitment they had offered to make Notts safer. She talked about the way they were challenging negative, stereotypical perceptions of young people and really making a difference to their local communities.

Speaking after the event she said: “It’s great that so many young people in the county are prepared to give their time so freely to protect people.”

“I am delighted the Force is investing in local support which will be for the benefit of everybody.”

The cadets officially joined the main force last month and will attend a total of 39 weekly sessions to develop an understanding of various operational departments and learn skills.

They will volunteer four hours per month to assist the police in attending public events and crime prevention activities.
