Nottinghamshire communities at risk of flooding

A flood alert for the River Trent has been issued by the Environment Agency (EA).

It is warning of high water levels between Castle Donington and Cromwell Weir.

An EA spokesman said flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible for communities near to the River Trent including Thrumpton Lane in Retford.

In addition, farmland and low-lying land in the Newark area may be affected.

The EA spokesman added: “River levels are peaking and scattered showers are forecast over the next 12 hours.”
