Adam Bower, 14, from North Wheatley, Retford, was crowned the 4Uth 2014 winner.

The 4Uth awards is an evening organised by Notts County Council and aims to celebrate the achievements of young people across Nottinghamshire.

Adam was nominated for the award by youth worker Kimberly Goodwin.

He was nominated as a a member of the Bassetlaw Young People’s Forum and as a student for the commitment to the care of his sister Charlotte.

All together, ten people judged the competition and picked the winners.

Some of the judges included last year’s winner Sarah Miles and county commissioner for the Girl Guides, Kate Royce.

Coun Liz Plant, Vice-Chairman of the children and young people’s committee at Notts County Council said: “Adam has already achieved so much at such a young age, caring for his younger sister, doing two jobs.”

“He is also studying and giving young people a voice through the Bassetlaw Voice Forum.”

Coun Plant added:“Many congratulations to him on winning the district award for Bassetlaw for this year’s 4Uth Awards.”

The awards evening was held at the Old Library, in Leeming Street, Mansfield.

During the evening, guests were entertained by young performers and musicians from County Youth Arts.

Notts County Council leader Coun Alan Rhodes said: “We are very proud of our young people in Nottinghamshire and they are doing some fantastic things, working really hard in their communities.” “There are some wonderfully positive role models out there and so choosing people to win from their districts and then a final winner from across the county is always a very hard task.”

“To win an award like this in a county like Nottinghamshire is a fantastic achievement.”

Other 4Uth winners included: Hannah Bagshaw from Rainworth, Emilie Wright, fromMansfield Woodhouse, Thomas King from Calverton and Kayleigh Eager from Broxtowe.
