Thousands of people brought more than a splash of colour to a grey day - as they took part in a massive charity run.

More than 2,700 people took part in the 5km Colour Dash at Rother Valley Country Park on Saturday morning in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The event, running for its second year, saw adults and children run, walk and jog around the course where there were showered with a cloud of colour at stations at each kilometre.

The coloured powder, which was natural corn starch dyed with food and cosmetic grade colourings, ensured those taking part crossed the finishing line looking very different to how they started.

A spokesman for Bluebell Wood thanked everyone who took part on Saturday morning. They said: “What an incredible day at our second 5K Colour Dash. Over 2,700 colour dashers crossed the finished line and have helped support Bluebell Wood. We’re extremely proud of each and everyone of you - thank you so much.”

The event will raise thousands of pounds for the charity, which requires more than £3 million per year to pay its running costs, with 90 per cent made up of donations.
