Greenlands Tenants and Residents Association organised the event in the pavilion earlier this month.

The youngsters involved concentrated on making the best rocket, which were named and decorated.

The day was funded by donations from councillors Judy Dalton and Jo Burton from the Community Leadership Fund.

A spokesperson said: “The excitement mounted as everyone went into the park for the launching of each rocket and the height it reached was carefully recorded. The winning rocket (height 188’) belonged to Sam Wallhead.”

Jim Stavely of Greener Spaces Limited provided expert tuition and all the materials for the exciting venture.

Greenlands TARA was formed in 2004 and works hard to improve the area in and around Greenlands Park.
