North Anston: Nursery is a twin hot spot with six different sets currently attending

The Hall Day Nursery currently has six sets of twins among the children who regularly attend the venue.

And deputy manager Jayne Fitzgerald admits it’s nothing she’s ever seen before.

“I’ve been here 15 years now and I’ve never known anything like it,” she said.

“It’s not that unusual to get a couple of sets of twins in a nursery now and again.”

“But six in one go, that has be very rare indeed.”

“We’re actually losing two of the older pairs of twins in the summer but we have another two sets ready to start in September, so we’ll still have six sets of twins at The Hall for the foreseable future.”

Fortunately for Jayne and her staff, the siblings in each are not difficult to tell apart.

“Some of the pairings are boy and girl, which helps a lot, and we know the others apart so thankfully, we don’t struggle on that issue.” she commented.

But as to what has caused this twin boom, Jayne admits she is as baffled as the rest.

“I’ve absolutely no idea what has caused some many local parents to have twins all around the same time, it just must be one of those one-off rarities in nature,” she said.

“One set, Harrison and Charlie, live in Bawtry but the rest are all local to Anston but I’ve no idea what it is around here that has caused it.”

“I think it is just simply one of those rare things and it’s lovely to see them all and enjoy that fact that it’s just a little bit unusual.”
