Michelle Andrews, 38, started in her role at the start of June but she says it feels longers as she has really settled in.

She said: “I finished my previous job just before Christmas and had a couple of months break before I started looking again.

“I have a passion for communications and writing, and knew that I wanted to continue my career in that kind of role. Communication is something that people take for granted and often overlook in a business setting, but it is so important. What you say and how you say it can have such an impact on everything else that you do.”

Michelle said that managing to find a job in Gainsborough came as a surprise.

She said: “I thought I would have to travel to Lincoln or Doncaster to find a similar role, so I was over the moon when I saw the position at Kal advertised.

“What they were looking for was the perfect match for my skillset. Importantly, they were so friendly when I came for the interview.

“Lots of businesses say that people are the most important thing, but Kal really mean it. I couldn’t have been happier when they offered me the job.

“I’m also loving working and living in the same place. Walking to work through the park certainly beats a 40 minute commute.

“One of the things I love about the job is that no two days are ever the same; it’s a cliché, but it’s true.

“Part of the time I will be at my desk, working on press releases, or social media content, but other days I’ll be out and about.

“I’ve just come back from working on a project with a school, a couple of weeks ago I was at a football ground, next week I’m at a company that makes motorhomes.

“It’s great to meet people and find out what they are up to. That’s probably one of my favourite parts of the job.”

Michelle says she loves Kal Group because it is an acive part of the community.

She said: “Not only are we creating new jobs in the town, but we also sponsor Gainsborough Trinity, and we also sponsored an award at this year’s Gainsborough Standard Community Awards. I know Andy our managing director really enjoyed going along and meeting all the nominees and winners.”

Michelle lives with her fiancee, Ben Blades, who is a landscape gardener and tree surgeon and they have a three-year-old daughter.

Michelle said: “Having a full time job means that the main thing I like to do outside work is spending time with my family, so lots of trips to the Play House, Pink Pig Farm and Blyton for ice creams.

“The other thing I really love at the moment is training at Old School Gym on North Street.

“I started there in March to try to lose some weight, Ben had already started training there, and he encouraged me to go, and I’m really glad he did.

“The hardest part was definitely walking through the door for the first time; I was so nervous about the very idea of having a personal trainer, let alone actually doing the exercise.

“I could do about 2 sit-ups when I started but John, who owns the gym, has been so patient with me, and most importantly for me has never let me give up. Having someone there telling you that yes, you can do it, when every inch of your mind and body is saying you can’t, means that you can achieve things that you would never be able to do on your own.

“I’ve lost about 2 and a half stone so far which is great; I’m already the strongest I’ve ever been; and am getting fitter all the time. But probably the biggest improvement is in my self-confidence which I wasn’t expecting.

“I hold my shoulders back and my head up now, and it makes me feel so much better.”
