No hangover for Sheffield Steelers after Nottingham Panthers' defeat, says goalie

Sheffield recognise that they will be up against four opponents with plenty to prove, on Saturday.

Paul Thompson's men host Milton Keynes Kings at the Arena, their opponents' roster featuring Andreas Valdix, Eric Neiley, Cole Shudra and Tim Wallace.

In the Summer, Valdix and Wallace were told their services were no longer required by Steelers, Neiley suggested he was about to retire, and Shudra is on loan to the Buckingamshire side.

Brad Day, Sheffield's number two goalie, will be an interested spectator when the four line up on the opposition blue line ahead of the first League game of the season.

"It will be nice to see the guys again. Neiley had a great season in particular for us and Vally can control a game, as we've seen.

"They will want to show what they can do and prove they could be back in Sheffield."

Steelers have already moved on from last Saturday's loss at Nottingham Panthers

Asked about their performance, Day replied: "It wasn't a 5-2 game, they took their chances and our Power Play didn't get going.

"We have to be more clinical. In the room after, we tried to take the positives out of the display and there won't be any hangover this coming weekend."

Day said there had not been any nervousness before the game in Nottingham, which featured 16 new Steelers: "Not really, just everybody excited, nobody froze. There weren't a lot of chances created by either side, and we did dominate the second period."

Day is hoping to get a little more action between the pipes, this season.

"Now Moose (Ervins Mustikovs) has gone perhaps there will be more opportunity but (Jackson) Whistle has had a great start. I just have to wait for my chance and take it when it comes."
