Recorder Graham Huston adjourned the case for a probation report.

He said: “Whilst I will not be the sentencing judge the contents of that report will be critical to the decision the judge has to take.”

“In adjourning your case for sentence I’m not giving any indication as to what the sentence will be. All options remain open including an immediate custodial sentence.”

Laing, 36, of High Street, Newton-on-Trent, was granted bail to appear back before the Crown Court later this month.
