PARKINSON’S UK, Bassetlaw Branch: At the opening of the meeting in April, Retford Rotary Club presented the branch with a cheque for £500 for the welfare of members. Following the presentation Bassetlaw’s Neurological Rehabilitation team gave a very interesting talk about their work. The meeting on May 3rd will welcome Dr P. Foster who will speak about the changes proposed for the local NHS. The first outing takes place on May 10th with a coach trip to Eden Camp. The aim of the branch is to offer friendship and support to everyone with Parkinson’s, their carers, family and friends. Meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Worksop Cricket Club at 2pm. Tel. WORKSOP and District Stroke Club: Meets first and third Thursdays of each month 7pm at The Crossing. All stroke victims and their carers are assured of a warm, friendly welcome. WORKSOP Miners Welfare Band: We run rehearsals at the Miners Welfare on Gateford Road on Mondays for the training band 7-7.30pm, and Wednesdays for the main band 7.30-9pm. We are always looking to make new players welcome and experience is not necessary as we provide free tuition and loan of instrument. We are particularly looking for trombone or bass players. SPRING Carnival: Saturday 16th April at the Centre for Sport and Learning, Manton Youth and Community Centre, off Shrewsbury Road, 1-4pm. A fun filled day of entertainment including stilt walker, balloon modelling, face painting, tombola, bouncy castle and much more.
