BASSETLAW Heart Support: The first of three visits arranged for small groups of us was to Robin Hood (Doncaster) Airport on 21st January. Our guide was the Chief Fire Officer Tony Lonsdale. The visit was illuminating, informative and very interesting. Having, taken a great deal for granted as regards safety etc, we were all grateful for the hard work of the people who care for passengers, staff, cargo and all arriving or leaving the airport. Two further visits have been arranged - they are in for a treat. Our last meeting held 4th February enjoyed a visit from MP John Mann. He spoke about his job as an MP and his own view of the importance of many factors of his job without making his talk a party political speech. He discussed the present anticipated changes to Bassetlaw Hospital and answered the varied questions put to him. The visit was very interesting and we thank Mr Mann for taking time out of his very busy work schedule on our behalf. Our next meeting is on Friday 4th March, 2.30pm at Retford Hospital. The speaker is Richard Hadfield (Landlord, Brewers Arms). All are welcome.
