New dawn at Cherubs

The sun set on Sunshine Nursery earlier this year, but it has risen again at Cherubs Nursery.

Despite a campaign to save it, Sunshine – based at Bassetlaw Hospital – was forced to close due to budget cuts, leaving families and staff distraught.

Little did they know six months down the line Ryton Park Primary School would bring a bright new future.

Sunshine staff have transferred to Cherub, based on the Sparken Hill school site, and families are flooding back too.

“Within a week of opening we have had lots of interest both from parents who are bringing their children back to us, and new families too,” said nursery manager Julie Gray. “We have got a fabulous new building and brand new facilities including an outdoor play area.”

“It couldn’t have worked out better and we are so excited to meet more local people and get involved in the community.”

Cherubs Nursery provides full day care for babies and children under five, and also after school care.

Worksop mum Rachel Hodges led the campaign to stop Sunshine closing.

She said: “It was so sad what happened but something really positive has come of it.”
