New club kicks off in style

There were some famous faces on hand to kick off a fun day organised by a newly formed junior football club recently.

Anston Rangers Junior FC was founded in April, and the fun day was the official launch – and a chance to raise some much-needed funds.

There was lots on offer on the day including football, games, stalls, a bouncy castle and barbecue.

“It was an absolutely fantastic day and we had plenty of people come along,” said club general secretary Lee Worrall.

“There were lots of people and lots of things going on. Former Dinnington Town player Ben Tomlinson came along to officially open the club and he donated a signed football from Macclesfield Town FC.”

The fun day raised £2,814 for the club, which will go towards funding equipment for the youngsters.

The club caters for children aged six to 11 and still has spaces for players in some age groups.
