New Chairman elected for Lincolnshire County Council

A new Chairman for Lincolnshire County Council has been elected.

County councillor Martin Trollope-Bellew was elected today (Friday, May 20) with councillor Andrew Hagues elected as his deputy.

After serving for 19 years on the county council, including 10 years as chief whip, Coun Trollope-Bellew is very much looking forward to his year in office.

He said: “I am particularly interested in the growth of small businesses and during my time as Chairman will help promote the rural economy in all its forms, from farming to leisure and tourism.”

As chairman, he will be raising money and supporting his chosen charities, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Service and Prostate Cancer UK.

Before accepting the role of chairman, Coun Trollope-Bellew was Vice-Chairman to the outgoing Chairman, Councillor William Webb.

Coun Trollope-Bellew added: “I am looking forward to serving the residents of Lincolnshire as chairman and to meeting as many people and organisations as possible during the next year.”
