Mum-to-be who dealt heroin starts two year jail sentence

Vicki Morris, 31, was caught at her home in Bawtry Road, Harworth.

Police arrested a man outside just after he had bought some of the drug, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

Officers went to the house where Morris dropped a bag of heroin worth £200 in her bedroom, said Paul Stimson, prosecuting.

On a bedside cabinet there were scales, used hypodermic syringes and other equipment.

Morris said that £10 of the £90 cash found there was from the sale of heroin to the man caught outside.

Because of her pregnancy she was not arrested that day.

But when the police returned a month later, after she had given birth, her boyfriend was there and a small amount of heroin was found, as well as scales, cash and mobile phones, said Mr Stimson.

Morris admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin and possession with intent to supply.

She had previous convictions for dishonesty and a caution for possession of amphetamine.

Harry Owen, defending, said she was not the owner of the drugs and was not the prime mover.

She had been a heroin addict for nine years and was now on the substitute drug methadone.

“She was vulnerable and has shown remorse,” he added.
