More than £20,000 stolen in Swallownest security van raid

More than £20,000 was stolen from a security van parked outside a Swallownest bank.

South Yorkshire Police have released a picture of the transit van used in the raid on Tuesday 27th September.

The robbers targeted the van outside the Royal Bank of Scotland on High Street at around 11.45am.

Eight men from Swallownest have been arrested in connection to the robbery and are currently on police bail.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information about this incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw, or has information about, the white transit van used as the get-away vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Nikki Shimwell said: “Following the robbery, the offenders fled the scene in a white transit van, which we recovered a short time later on King Street.”

“We believe this vehicle was in Swallownest the night before the robbery and are appealing for anyone who saw this white transit van, or anyone acting suspiciously on either that Monday or Tuesday, to contact the police, or Crimestoppers.”

“It could be that you noticed it parked outside a property, in a local car-park, or being driven to or from the bank on Tuesday morning.”

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the offenders park and abandon the vehicle on King Street, some time after mid-day, following the robbery.”
