Misterton: More than £33,000 grant from WREN for new play park

The money, awarded by WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund, will be used to buy and install a complete range of play equipment at Church Meadow play park, High Street, Misterton.

Barry Cooper, Chairman of the Parish Council, believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of the people living in the area.

He said: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Misterton.

“It’s fantastic that WREN has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our play park taking shape in the next 12 months.”

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Cheryl Raynor, WREN’s grant manager for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Church Meadow Play park Regeneration project and pleased that our funding will provide such a fantastic facility for children in Misterton.

“WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we’re really looking forward to seeing this one take shape soon.”

Angela Harrison, Clerk to the Council, hopes that the play park will be ready to use by the end of June 2016/

Angela said: “The play park has needed significant investment for some time and it is fantastic news that not only can the existing play equipment be replaced by up-to-date, modern alternatives, but new equipment can also be installed that will cater for the needs of a much larger range of children.

“Thanks to WREN’s assistance we can now have a play park the whole village can be proud of for many years to come.”

Misterton Parish Council is part of the first tier of local government and looks to provide local services and improve and provide local community facilities and is responsible for two play parks, a recreational ground and pavilion and areas of green space.
