Misterton: Lights man Sid is named citizen of the year

Sid Burgess receives his Misterton Citizen of the Year Award from Coun Wayne Howe

The announcement was made at the council’s Annual Parish Meeting last month.

People come from far and wide to see Sid’s annual display of Christmas lights at his Grove Park home.

Introducing the award, chairman of the Parish Council, Coun Barry Cooper, thanked Sid for raising money for the local Lions through his Christmas display.

Parish councillor Wayne Howe made the presentation to Sid, who worked for Wayne in the butcher’s shop many years ago.

Sid’s display now has more than 2,000 lights and continues to be a source of great delight to local people and visitors alike each Christmas.
