Meat thief up in court

A THIEF who confessed to over 15 offences of stealing meat from supermarkets has appeared in court.

Albert James Pressley, 36, of Queen Street in Worksop, pleaded guilty to theft - the latest instances being stealing £49.63 worth of meat from One Stop Shop on 6th July and £51 worth from Sainsbury’s on 18th June.

Pressley’s behaviour was described as ‘a spree, almost on a daily basis, of going into shops and stealing’.

Defending Pressley, David Verity said that he did this to fund his drink and drug habit and that this was a ‘cry for help’.

Sentencing was adjourned until 1st August. Pressley was given bail on the condition that he not enter any One Stop Shop in Notts.
