Meals on wheels world record attempt in Worksop

Roast beef and apple crumble were enjoyed by the masses as older people from across the county took part in a world record attempt.

The aim was to set a record for the number of ‘meals at home’ customers who receive the same meal on the same day.

Those taking part in the world record attempt received a mouth-watering menu of roast beef, potatoes and seasonal vegetables, rounded off with the Great British favourite pudding of apple crumble and custard.

This favourite meal was also available all week for customers and luncheon clubs to order.

The special event was co-ordinated nationally by the National Association of Care Catering as part of National Community Meals Week 2012.

In Notts, the meals are being cooked and delivered by County Enterprise Foods, the county council’s meals service.

Coun Kevin Rostance, Chairman of the Adult Social Care and Health Committee, said: “We’re planning on doing our bit to boost the national figures by delivering hundreds of the same meals to people across the county.”

“We also wanted to encourage those who don’t already use our service to try it out on the day. Not only did they receive a mouth-watering menu, but they also helped to contribute to a world record!”
