The incident occured on a roundabout close to the A57’s junction with the A1

Police and Notts County Council highways officers closed one lane of the road at 4.30pm to recover the vehicle, adding further delays to the busy rush-hour traffic.

The road was fully re-opened at 8.30pm later that evening.

“We are still investigating the reason why the lorry rolled over but we found no mechanical damage or blown tyres on the vehicle,” said Ian Wheeler of Notts County Council’s highways department.

“We did get reports of a couple of trees being blown over in strong winds around that area on the same day, so it looks like the lorry was simply blown over by a sudden strong gust of wind that caught everyone by surprise.”
