Mark loses brain cancer battle

THE WIFE of a Gainsborough man who has lost his nine year battle against a brain tumour has paid tribute to a ‘proud, brave man who doted on his family and never lost hope’.

Mark Bannister passed away in hospital with his family by his side on Monday 4th June, aged just 38.

The former soldier had become a well-known face around town, attracting thousands of supporters in his fight to get cancer treatment.

His wife Karen told the Standard: “Mark was such a happy-go-lucky guy. He was in good spirits right until the end.”
