But according to a Channel 4 spokesman, after being seen by the medics and visiting the hospital she was cleared to continue in the competition.

A source at filming in Austria said: “Rebecca’s fall was incredibly nasty. One minute she was flying through the air, the next she was crumpled on the crash mat, and clearly in a lot of pain.

“It was hard to tell at first what had happened, but it was clear she needed to go to hospital.

“Doctors there spent hours assessing her condition, doing X-rays and other checks to work out exactly how bad the damage was.”

Becky, 26, from Mansfield, who won double gold at Beijing in 2008, was eventually discharged later on Saturday night.

Strictly beauty Ola Jordan, 33, was forced to bow out after injuring her leg in training for last year’s show.

It was feared the accident could ruin her dancing career but she made a full recovery.

Others taking part in the new series include former Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, 34, ex-Holby City actress Tina Hobley, 44, and Westlife singer Brian McFadden, 35.

The Jump returns to Channel4 next Sunday at 7:30pm, with the remaining competitors going head to head completely live in Snow Cross and the first Ski Jump of the series.
