Man scratched Mercedes outside Blyth pub

A FORMER Oldcotes man must pay £300 compensation to a woman for scratching her Mercedes.

Martin Brown, 50, of Queen Mary Road, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Blyth on 16th June at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Kate Beardmore said the woman had parked her car in a pub car park and on her return found it scratched.

Defence solicitor Ian Pridham said there was an ongoing lengthy civil dispute between the pair, who were once friends, over a bill.

He added: “On that day he had seen the vehicle, knew it belonged to her and was very stupid.”

Brown was given a a four month community order with a six week curfew. As well as compensation, he must pay £85 court costs.
