Man jailed for firearms offences

Darryl Asbury was arrested after officers at Birmingham International Airport contacted police in January 2015 to report that they had intercepted a package containing a blank pistol and that the parcel was addressed to Asbury.

The investigation revealed he had been importing imitation firearms and selling them on and that he had ammunition at home, as well as a stun gun disguised as a smart phone.

He was sentenced after he admitted possessing a prohibited weapon for discharge of a gas or electricity, possessing prohibited ammunition, possessing a disguised firearm, selling or transferring a prohibited weapon and an offence linked to importing a weapon or ammunition.

The 69-year-old, of King Street, Hodthorpe, was sentenced at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, June 23.

The licensed firearms holder also had his certificate removed and was banned from holding a licence in future.
