Man dies following A1 horror smash in Nottinghamshire

A man has died following a six-vehicle collision on the A1 at Newark yesterday (March 9).

Nottinghamshire Police were called at around 7.55am following the collision on the northbound carriageway.

A 52-year old man – the driver of one of the vehicles involved – died following the collision.

Another man – the driver of one of the lorries – was taken to Nottingham’s Queens Medical Centre by air ambulance for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

A woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and three other men were treated for their injuries at the scene. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering.

The road remained closed for much of the day while police Forensic Collision Investigators worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and recover the vehicles involved.
