Man arrested over historic sex offences at Bulwell children’s home

He was detained on Wednesday 26th November by detectives working under Operation Daybreak. The report relates to alleged offences at the former Bracken House Children’s Home, in Bulwell, between 1991 and 1996.

The suspect, who has been bailed pending further enquiries, is the tenth man to be arrested under Operation Daybreak in relation to historic offences alleged to have been perpetrated by individuals at children’s homes in Nottinghamshire between the early 1960s and 2000. Seven have been released without further action and two others remain on bail.

Operation Daybreak was originally set up to investigate allegations reported to have taken place at the former Beechwood Children’s Home in Mapperley.

However, where people have reported abuse not only at Beechwood but at other locations, including other children’s homes, the inquiry team has retained this investigation in order to ensure continuity and a victim-focused approach.

As a result, two other men have been arrested under the inquiry. These relate to allegations holding no link to children’s homes. One remains on bail pending further enquiries, the other has since died.
