One of two big-name acts coming to Maltby is West Yorkshire’s Chantel McGregor, held up by one music magazine as a ‘messiah of blues rock.’

Recognised at the 2011 British Blues Awards as Young Musician of the Year and in 2012 as Female Vocalist of the Year, Chantel is one of the brightest young talents on the British blues circuit.

Her peers seem to agree - invited twice to jam on stager with blues legend Joe Bonamassa - and she brings her own brand of blues to Maltby’s The Rock venue on 30th August.

Tickets for the gig, which will feature Beth McCarthy in support, cost £10.

Also lined up for The Rock is a Saturday night special, with American singer-songwriter Lisa Mills the headline act of the venue’s first ever Saturday night show on 17th August.

Lisa will be joined on stage by performing partner and co-producer Ian Jennings on the double bass.

Born in raised in the blues heartland of Mississippi, Lisa’s musical influences were varied from a young age.

She began to compose her own songs as a child, and focused her energies on her singing, writing and guitar playing.

It was a friend sending a CD to a member of Big Brother and the Holding Company that launched her into the international limelight, completing a three-year run as the blues legends’ lead singer.

Having toured on both sides of the Atlantic, appeared at Glastonbury and a host of other festivals, Lisa is now preparing to bring her blues to Maltby.

Support on the night will come from Mick Miller and Roy Machin.

Tickets for Lisa Mills are priced at £8 in advance and £10 on the door.
