The service delivery manager has been cycling and taking part in weekly spinning, boxing and circuit classes to prepare him for the swim.

Andy said: “I enjoy swimming and I have heard of the amazing services they provide at Bluebell Wood for children with a shortened life expectancy, from my sister who has been involved with the charity in the past.”

“I haven’t taken part in an event of this size before but I am really looking forward to the challenge.”

Helen Mower, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: This is a fantastic challenge that Andy is taking on and we wish him lots of luck with his swim.”
