Maltby: Husband released after police decide death was not suspicious

Alan Walker, 60, had been arrested last December after Christine Walker,58, was found dead at their home on Gladstone Road.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Following extensive toxicological and pathological investigation, South Yorkshire Police officers are satisfied that the death of 58-year-old Christine Valerie Walker from Maltby is not suspicious. Mrs Walker, of Gladstone Road, Maltby, was found in her home on Monday 9th December 2013.”

“A 60-year-old man arrested in connection with Mrs Walker’s death has been released without charge. A file has been prepared for the coroner.”

Officers spent two days combing the house for clues, but an initial postmortem investigation was described by police as ‘inconclusive’.
