Maltby: Crown court date for man who sent abusive letters to council

A Maltby man who admitted sending sending a torrent of abusive letters’ to the leader and deputy leader of Rotherham Council will be sentenced at the crown court.

James Plant, 54, of Birks Holt Drive, Maltby appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He had pleaded guilty to to racially aggravated harassment with fear of violence and another charge of racially aggravated harassment without fear of violence, at an earlier hearing and sentenced was ajourned for a probation report.

On Friday, magistrates sent the case to Sheffield Crown Court for sentencing on 30th August.
