The Hallmark card shop has been located in Silver Street, Gainsborough since 1982 and has recently been refurbished with thousands of pounds being spent to give the shop a new style.

Lou Young, who has been managing the shop for five years, said: “We want to give a positive report for Gainsborough as it is so negative. We wanted to give it a more modern and fresh look. It used to look a bit drab and I wanted to put my own stamp on it.

“The responses we have had from customers have been fantastic and we have seen a lot of new customers coming in as well.

“We wanted to make it more inviting and welcoming. The service we provide is a one to one service.

“We get a lot of older people come in and they can struggle to find what they are looking for.

“All the staff know the products and have read all the cards so they can find you what you are looking for. Customers know other customers and they often ask after one another.”

The shop has been completely revamped with new floors, wall colour and displays for the wide range of stock.

Lou added: “I was in learning disabilities and the caring profession for 22 years and I have brought that side of things into the retail aspect as well.”
