Ian Abrahams has been appointed Head of the School of Education and Professor of Science Education at Lincoln.
A specialist in science education whose work has informed national policy, Professor Abrahams has been involved in the evaluation of national science education initiatives and the role of practical work in school science.
He said: “I am committed to high quality teacher training across all disciplines. Joining the University of Lincoln to lead the School of Education offers me the opportunity to influence the development of the next generation of teaching professionals.”
“We want to develop outstanding teachers who have an impact on pupils’ earning and attainment as soon as they enter the classroom. I am particularly keen to work with local schools not only to maximise the effectiveness of teaching and learning on our PGCE, but also to increase the number of science and mathematics teachers in the region.”
