Lincolnshire residents can spring into a new season with savings on their energy bills by signing up for the scheme.

Anyone can register, whether you rent your home or own it from now at www.west-lindsey.gov.uk/switch.

All you need is your annual gas or electric statement or bills covering the last 12 months to hand.

Once you’ve registered your interest, energy suppliers will then be invited to compete with their best offers at an auction.

Offer letters stating the potential savings will be then sent to your address or by email and you could be saving hundreds of pounds later in 2015 with lower bills to pay.

If you’re not able to register online, you can register offline at your local council or by calling 0800 048 8439 until 5pm on Monday 18th May.

Over 1,600 households in Lincolnshire switched last year, saving an estimated £316,000 between them.

It’s open to all energy users, whether you are on dual fuel, electric only, pay monthly or quarterly or have a prepayment meter.

Karen Lond, lead officer for the councils said: “Why not consider reviewing your energy provider as part of your spring clean?”

“There is simply nothing to lose by registering and seeing if the winning supplier beats your current energy prices.”

“From Stamford to Skegness and Gainsborough to Grantham, thousands of people across the county have already switched and saved on their bills. Register today and join them.”

The scheme is organised by Boston Borough Council, City of Lincoln Council, East Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire County Council, South Kesteven District Council, North Kesteven District Council and West Lindsey District Council and is administered by the UK’s leading collective switching expert, iChoosr Ltd.

For the 786 Lincolnshire residents who signed up for the latest round the average saving would be £219.15.
