Lincs: There’s still time for teens to sign up for adventure activities programme

Parents interested in seeing their teenager build confidence, make new friends and develop important life skills are encouraged to get their child to sign up for the National Citizen Service (NCS) Autumn 2015 programme before it’s too late.

Starting on Friday, October 23, the programme will include a four-day stay at an outdoor adventure centre complete with activities like rock-climbing and archery, along with three days working with local businesses to improve employability skills and a social action project during which teens will give back to their communities by volunteering and fundraising.

The programme costs £35 including all activities, food, transport and three nights of accommodation.

Phil Everett, Communications Manager for NCS EM1, said: “There’s just one month left to go until the start of our autumn programme, so any Lincolnshire parents that want to see their teen take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience should register interest before it’s too late.

“There’s really no better way to spend £35 this October.

“A two-hour family trip to the cinema can cost more than it does for teens to spend four days away from home where they’ll be making new friends, taking part in brilliant new challenges and building vital skills such as confidence, the ability to work effectively in teams, communication and leadership.”

NCS is a flagship government initiative for 16 and 17 year-olds designed to support their transition to adulthood.

Phil added: “Spots are quickly filling, but we still have a few spaces left for October.
