Providers were invited to bid to run the services, in line with European law, as all four surgeries have time-limited contracts scheduled to end on Tuesday 31st March.

In common with most GP providers the new contract holders who will run the surgeries from Wednesday 1st April are independent businesses, owned and managed by GP partnerships, or other organisations.

Pottergate Surgery in Vanessa Drive, Gainsborough, Metheringham Surgery in High Street, Metheringam, and Arboretum Surgery in Monks Road, Lincoln, will all be run by Universal Health Ltd, a partnership between Lincs and District Medical Services and the Lincs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Neal Parkes, Joint Chief Executive of Universal Health Ltd, said: “We are proud and privileged to have been given this opportunity to provide services in these three practices.”

“We are looking forward to being able to further develop what is on offer to patients and ensuring that their experience remains at the forefront of our service delivery.”

Lincoln University Surgery at Brayford Pool will be in the hands of Danum Medical Services Ltd (DMSL), a GP-owned company based in Doncaster which currently operates a number of GP practices and out of hours GP services in northern England.

Registered patients at all four surgeries can continue to use their practices as normal.

The locations, telephone numbers for the practices and all existing services and contact details will remain the same.

Surgeries will continue to offer the same services to patients using a number of existing staff, but under different supervision.
