The Lincolnshire Remembrance: Memories and Memorials project will be a chance for volunteers to learn about how conflict has affected families, communities and industries throughout the county.

They will record and research war memorials, and the names on them, and can follow up their discoveries and do more in depth research.

Full training and support will be provided and the results will be made available on www.lincstothepast.com

Sarah Grundy, historic environments officer at the county council, said: “Lincolnshire has a rich military heritage, from medieval battlefields to the iconic RAF bases.”

“Through this project we are looking forward to our volunteers finding out much more about this fascinating history – they could be personal stories about their own families, or research on how conflict affected the county’s industry.”
