Lincolnshire: GCSE results top national average

National league tables published for 2013 show Lincolnshire’s secondary schools continue to outstrip national averages for GCSE performance.

The five or more A* to C grades including English and maths pass rate in the county is 1.2 per cent above the national average.

And three schools - Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar Alford and Caistor Grammar School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate against this measure .

The proportion of young people achieving five or more A*to C results in Lincolnshire is 84.5 per cent, which is 1.6 per cent above the national average.

Young people achieving five or more A* to G grades for Lincolnshire has also increased to 96.7 per cent, which is 0.9 per cent better than the national average.

The coalition government introduced the English Baccalaureate in 2010 which measures the number of pupils achieving grades A*to C in English, maths, science, humanities and languages.

The current figure for Lincolnshire schools is 27.2 per cent, a 6.6 per cent increase on last year, outstripping the national average of 22.8 per cent.

Coun Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services, said: “Lincolnshire students have once again achieved some fantastic results, whether in schools, academies or colleges.”

“It is pleasing to see results continue to improve year after year. It’s important that young people achieve the best possible qualifications towards securing jobs and other opportunities.”
