Life is sweet for these Dinnington volunteers

Volunteers from Dinnington got their teeth into the latest fundraising challenge for a local children’s hospice.

Members of the Dinnington-based Bluebell Wood Volunteer Support Group held a cake sale and raised £56.

The event, at South Anston Methodist Church, is part of Bluebell Wood’s Love to Bake campaign which is running throughout February.

The charity is encouraging as many people as possible to make a cake or tray of cupcakes and sell them to friends, family and colleagues for £1 per portion.

Sarah Champion, chief executive of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “It’s such a simple idea, but everyone who gets involved will be helping us to bring a smile to the face of a local child with a shortened life expectancy, as well as supporting their families.”

They money raised can be donated online through the charity’s website or taken into any of its retail shops around the region. Youngsters at the hospice have also been taking part in the campaign, baking delicious cakes to sell.

Sarah added: “Our motto is living life with love and laughter and our Love To Bake campaign is no exception.”
