The heartless thief is reported to have followed the 83-year-old man, who lives on Riddell Avenue, home from the local shop at around 8.30 am on the morning of Monday 13th April.

It is understood the robber then covered the pensioner, who has poor eyesight, with a towel before grabbing the wallet from his trouser pockets and fleeing from the house.

“It’s pretty scary to know someone who thinks nothing of robbing an elderly man is prowling about on our streets.”
