Lancaster fly past for Dambusters service in Gainsborough
The sun was shining in Gainsborough for the Dambusters 70th anniversary commemoration on Sunday.
The Lancaster from the Battle of Britain flight held the crowd in awe as it flew over at a special service at Gainsborough All Saints’ Parish Church.
Coun Jessie Milne hosted a tribute to the RAF Scampton based 617 Squadron crews, who flew daring raids on the Ruhr Valley dams in Germany.

Veterans Bob Carter and Cyril Peters read the moving Dambusters poem with air cadets Daniel Newman and Kylie King.
Children from Frances Olive Anderson Primary School entertained the crowds with their rendition of We’ll Meet Again.
Coun Milne said: “Seeing the Lancaster fly over brought a tear to my eye.
“I felt it was a perfect day and a tremendous tribute to those very brave men.”
