Ladies get together to raise cash in memory of Megan

A GROUP of local ladies were packing bags at Tesco last weekend to raise money for charity close to their hearts.

Student Lisa Ward, along with nine members of her family and friends packed bags, sold cakes and held a raffle at the Dinnington store.

They were raising money for the Meningitis Trust and Cancer Research.

Lisa, who works part time at the Dinnington store while she is studying, said: “We were raising money in memory of a friend Megan Wyman, who died of meningitis in 2007.”

“We packed bags, did a tombola and had a cake sale. Everyone was really generous and we raised £812 in that one day. I still can’t believe it, it was fantastic.”

“A lot of people knew Megan and they were doing it for her,” she added.

Lisa plans to hold another fundraising event around Christmas time. She thanked everyone who donated on the day and local businesses who had donated prizes.
