Knife case

A WORKSOP man took a knife with him to an interview at Hope For The Homeless, a court heard.

Terrance Simpson, 48, of Grafton Street, admitted having a knife in a public place.

Donna Fawcett, prosecuting, said Simpson lifted his shirt to reveal a seven inch kitchen knife in a leather sheath tucked into his trousers.

“She told him she would not come back until he put the knife down,” she continued.

“He put it down on a chair and she took it away. At no point was she threatened or felt threatened.”

David Grant, defending, said Simpson had since been back to apologise to the woman and was getting help and guidance from his GP.

Magistrates adjourned the case until 1st March for probation reports.
