Kirkby man bulk bought cannabis

A Kirkby man who bought cannabis in bulk to save cash was arrested when his car was stopped and police officers smelled the drug, a court heard.

Michael Morley was stopped on Walesby Drive, Kirkby, with £170 of the drug, on February 17.

Michael Little, mitigating, said Morley went out and bought an ounce of cannabis every month for his personal use, and there was no intent to supply.

He said the dad-of-two had recently lost his job.

Morley, 24, of Kingsway, admitted possession of the Class B drug when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay an £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
