Keira’s fun day run for Kiveton playgroup

A BUDDING runner from Kiveton has put her best foot forward to raise money for her local nursery.

Keira Sampson, nine, raised £171 for Kiveton and Wales Pre-School by taking part in the fun run at the Sheffield Half Marathon in May.

Her mum Emma said: “Her dad does the Sheffield Half Marathon each year and she has been saying that she wanted to do the fun run. She hadn’t had the courage before to do it, I think because of all the people there, but this year she was off.”

“A few weeks before she said she said she was doing it for the playgroup. She used to go there and her little sister Libbi still goes there.”

After watching her dad, Gareth, start the half marathon, Keira began her 3km run from the Don Valley Stadium.

“We are so proud of her,” said Emma.

“She’s definitely got the running bug now from her dad. She is saying she wants to do it again next year.”

Emma thanked everyone who sponsored Keira and said the money raised will go towards buying new toys and equipment at the nursery.

Emma added: “The playgroup were over the moon with Keira and bought her a little thank you present.”
