Keep warm this winter

rOTHERHAM Council is urging people to be aware of the dangers of freezing weather and keep warm this winter.

With the cost of heating often a concern, it may seem tempting to turn heating off for longer periods. But this can lead to serious health problems.

Last year in Yorkshire and the Humber 2400 people died from illness caused by being too cold in their own home.

Cabinet member for health and wellbeing Ken Wyatt said: “We are asking everyone to remember the needs of friends, relatives and neighbours who could be at risk at this time.”

“Many people are not aware that by not keeping their homes warm they are putting themselves in danger.”
