LEADING sportswear company PlayerLayer has teamed up with a Worksop logistics company in a lucrative deal which will bring much-needed jobs to the town.
The partnership has allowed Carlton Forest based company One World Logistics to open two new distribution centres to pick, pack and despatch products to customers across the UK.
Development of the new state-of-the-art ‘clean rooms’ ensure products are not only treated with the most expert care but are also kept clean before garments are sent.
Operations manager at One World Logistics Rob Wilson said the partnership will have a positive impact on Worksop’s economy.
“We have created these two new clean rooms that are both of the highest quality. We have pretty much built a room to service this customer,” he said.
“It need to be clean because of the garments PlayerLayer do. There can also be special lettering printed on the garments.”
“It’s important the garments are kept clean and they need special handling.”
“We receive orders over the internet, we pack them and prepare them. Ideally we want to get our delivery time down to 24-48 hours. At the moment we are working towards 72-hour turnaround.”
PlayerLayer, who boast an extensive range of base layer products, supply garments for more than 80 schools across the UK, including Eton and Harrow, and leading sports teams, including Leicestershire and Middlesex county cricket clubs.
“We are very confident in the partnership we have established with PlayerLayer over the past eight months,” added Mr Wilson.
“They have a very good reputation, which is increasing all the time, and it’s a partnership we feel will be beneficial for all parties concerned.”
“They have some long-established clients locally and nationally and we’re very excited about what the future holds for One World Logistics.”
“They supply a wide range of sports kits for a variety of sports, including winter sports.”
The logistics company’s UK distribution operation, with its modern fleet of vehicles, provides a delivery method to suit all requirements, from large-scale dedicated contract distribution to single item deliveries.
Its multi-site operation, including head office in Worksop and facilities in Washington in the North East, and Swadlincote in the Midlands, provides a national platform suited for the partnership with PlayerLayer, added Mr Wilson.
“We do have another clean room on the market,” he said.
“We built two, one of which is dedicated to PlayerLayer.”
“We offer something very different in the market place, in terms of a very clean environment to work in which I’m sure would appeal to a number of interested parties whether it be electrical or garment.”
“We offer something different to a warehouse point of view.”
He added: “We also have a video shoot being done here to go on YouTube by a company who are in partnership with PlayerLayer do customer sales software management systems.”
“These are exciting times for One World Logistics and Worksop.”
