Jo embarks on Everest trip

Jo O’Regan, 38, joined a group of hardy adventure seekers on 22nd March to take on the ultimate challenge of a lifetime.

She will money for Support Dogs - a Sheffield-based assistance dogs charity dedicated to training dogs to transform the lives of vulnerable people.

Her challenge will take her across some of the most beautiful terrain in the world - 17,000 feet above sea level.

Jo said she didn’t realise the full implicatons of what she was taking on but added she is not a quitter.

“I’ve got a little nephew who has a rare genetic disorder and it brings it home to you how lucky most of us are,” she said.

“But it also made me aware that I had never really done enough to help others and I just wanted to do something positive to contribute to those less fortunate.”

Jo has been busy training for her three-week challenge.

“I go out running three nights a week and on weekends I take my dog out to Clumber Park, the Rother Valley or into the Peak District for a five hour walk,” she said.
