Coun Hazel Brand took on the coast-to-coast walk across Dartmoor and Exmoor – and has been rewarded with pledges of support for her chosen charity, Ward A4 at Bassetlaw Hospital.

Coun Brand said: “The 117-mile walk from Wembury to Lynmouth was a real challenge.

“The terrain is difficult enough then we ended up trekking on the two hottest days of the year so far.

“At least that meant that Dartmoor’s famous bogs were a bit drier than usual and there was less water in the streams we had to ford.

“Thanks to everyone for their support. I have raised over £800 so far towards my £1000 target.”

Ward A4 cares for mainly elderly patients, who need that bit of extra help and rehabilitation to return home or go on to another residential setting.
