Insulate your home before onset of winter

Householders are being urged to take advantage of a scheme that gives them the opportunity to have loft and cavity wall insulation installed at a fraction of the price.

Warm Streets is an area-wide insulation scheme established by Notts and Derbyshire Local Authorities Energy Partnership (LAEP).

The LAEP is made up of all 20 local authorities from both counties.

The scheme offers private householders the chance to have loft insulation installed for just £49 and cavity wall insulation for just £99, subject to a survey.

People aged over 70 or on certain benefits may quality for free insulation.

The scheme is expecting to deliver around 30,000 installations across the two counties which will make a significant contribution to tackling fuel poverty.

It is to be delivered by Apex Carbon Solutions, in partnership with Marches Energy Agency, and will run to the end of December 2012.

The Energy Saving trust estimates that installing loft insulation could save a household around £145 a year on their energy bills and installing cavity wall insulation could save around £110 a year.
